Kwai Lan Chan's lineage may be traced to ancient emperors of the Chan Kingdom in Imperial China. Imperial Feng Shui was originally developed for the exclusive use of emperors in ancient China, to apply in a practical way toward the disposition of their duties as rulers of the realm.
In keeping with Chinese tradition, only the male direct descendants of the Chan Family were allowed to learn the secrets of Imperial Feng Shui. Dressed at birth as a boy by her far-sighted mother, Kwai Lan at an early age became privy to the inside knowledge of Imperial Feng Shui.
